Celebrating Garden Day

On Sunday 10th May, it is Garden Day. As Lincoln wedding florists with a big love for gardening and growing flowers, this is a day that we really like to make the most of!

So what exactly is Garden Day? The idea is to take time to enjoy your garden and appreciate its many joys; especially the many health benefits that it brings. Gardening reconnects us with nature and awakens all of our senses, whilst also being truly calming through the motions of watering, weeding, planting and simply pottering. The garden brings feelings of peace and wellness, and it's scientifically proven to have positive effects on our mental and physical health.

Whilst a place for calm, gardens are also our playgrounds; full of adventure and fun for our children but also for us too. They are a great space for enabling messy play for kids and a place where risk taking can safely by encouraged (Forest School activities do this).

It's no surprise that Professor Paul Dolan has been quoted saying:

'Gardeners and florists are the happiest of all the professions…. Nearly twice as happy as people in more prestigious and better paid jobs.’
Isabelle's cat Dolly is also a garden lover!

With everything going on in the world at the moment, now is truly the time to appreciate your garden, so whether you’re planting, weeding, watering, doing yoga, sketching, having a picnic, barbecuing, reading or napping - enjoy!
