How to have budget-friendly wedding flowers that still wow!

Planning a wedding on a budget doesn't mean sacrificing style or elegance, especially when it comes to your floral arrangements. With some creativity and strategic choices, you can achieve stunning floral moments that don’t break the bank. Here are some budget-friendly wedding flower ideas that will still wow everyone on your special day:

1.Style over specifics

Focus less on individual flower varieties and more on the overall look you want to achieve. By being flexible with specific flowers, we can better search for blooms that align with your desired aesthetic. Certain flowers such as peonies, hydrangeas and some types of roses will always come at a premium. Whilst we love working with these flowers, there are others that can still give the same feel you're after. And if we can use our home-grown or locally-grown flowers then even better!

2. Go Green

At Violet & Vine we love incorporating foliage into all our arrangements to emulate the way flowers normally sit in nature. Varieties such as eucalyptus, pittosporum, pistache alongside many others help create a lush and authentic look while keeping costs down. We use greenery generously in bouquets, centrepieces, and other floral decor to achieve a natural, cohesive aesthetic.

3. Repurpose Your Flowers

Get the most out of your floral budget by repurposing your flowers throughout your wedding, like moving your signing table flowers to your top table. The ceremony normally only lasts around 30 minutes. It can feel like a lot to pay for an arrangement on the signing table that is surplus to requirements so quickly! This way you get to enjoy your flowers for longer whilst stretching your budget - win win right? There are other ways you can create multi-purposes for your blooms. For example, hiring our vases mean you can use the bridal and bridesmaid bouquets as extra decor around your venue. Another idea is moving your aisle flowers to your table centres. We’ll chat through all these options and more when we meet for a wedding flowers consultation.

4. Choose Single Bloom Arrangements

Simplify your floral arrangements by opting for single flower displays in bud vases, or a taller single stem in a glass bottle. Not only are these arrangements elegant and understated, but they also require fewer flowers and less arranging time, both significantly reducing your cost. Another option could be combining single stem arrangements with fuller jars or vases to create a balanced but impactful look.

5. Non-Floral Additions

If you’re on a low budget but still want full and interesting centrepieces, think about other elements you can use on the table alongside a simpler arrangement. Candlesticks or lanterns are a great way of adding interest as well as ambience for the evening. Stacks of old books or mementos that are individual to you both also creates a great conversation starter. Your table centres can still be beautiful and unique whilst staying within your budget. Remember, the key to creating stunning wedding flowers on a budget is to prioritise what's most important to you, and allocate your resources accordingly. With a little creativity and resourcefulness, you can achieve beautiful floral arrangements that reflect your style and vision without exceeding your budget.
